To support the implementation of ValEUs and to effectively address stakeholder needs, the network’s work will be organised in six work packages (WPs). The ValEUs activities across these work packages follow three general objectives:
- Enquire into the various contestations EU values and provide a realistic account of EU Foreign Policy.
- Learn more about the potential of successful counterstrategies to contestations of European values and develop an alternative policy agenda.
- Promote a new role of universities as responsible actors, laboratories for democracy and committed partners to endangered regions, such as Ukraine.
The following three WPs can be understood as service units for the content-related work packages of ValEUs, providing management and network infrastructure as well as ensuring their visibility and impact.
WP1: Project Management and Coordination
Coordination of the administrative and financial management of ValEUs.
WP2: Creation of ValEUs Website and Peer Review Platform
Establish the ValEUs website to promote network activities and the project’s Peer Review Platform, which will host the ValEUs academic journal and allow partners to run peer review exercises.
WP6: Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation
Bridge network insights for the larger public, promote network visibility in the academic community and ensure project sustainability.
The remaining WPs correspond to the main functions of universities linked to the field of European Studies: Research, teaching and civic engagement.
WP3: Fostering Joint Research Capacity
Foster academic exchange between partner institutions and build research collaboration.
WP4: Advancing Teaching Collaboration
Advance collaborative channels and capacities for teaching, promote students’ intercultural skills and support displaced Ukrainian students.
WP5: Promoting Civil Society Policy Debate
Foster policy debates with civil society stakeholders and map how civil society actors counteract contestations to European values.
