Steering Committee

The Steering Committee is in charge of the day-to-day management of the project It steers the network to achieve the project objectives and the delivery of outcomes, and fosters the effective engagement of partner institutions. It is composed of the Chair (in the person of the PI), the Work Package leaders and prepares decisions to be taken by the General Assembly.

Timm Beichelt

Dr. Timm Beichelt is a Professor of European Studies at the European University Viadrina. With a degree and a doctorate in political science from Heidelberg University, Timm works at the intersection of political science and cultural studies. His teaching and research focus on Democracy and Autocracy in Central and Eastern Europe, European Union Politics, Politics and Football, and Emotions in Politics.

Randall Halle

Randall Halle is the ValEUs Project Lead at the University of Pittsburgh where he directs the European Studies Center and is Klaus W. Jonas Professor of German Film and Cultural Studies. Professor Halle's research and teaching focuses on European film, EU cultural and media policy, and the role of Europe in the world. Halle’s fluency in six languages facilitates deep knowledge of regional European policy and politics. He is the author of four monographs and several edited volumes and articles, which are based on research supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, DAAD, and Fulbright. He also co-founded the European Culture Research Network, is on the Executive Committee of the Council for European Studies, is Editor in Chief of the journal EuropeNow, and serves on the Executive Committee of the European Union Studies Association.

Laura Leonardi

Laura Leonardi is Full Professor of Sociology the University of Florence. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Sociology. In 1999 she obtained a Jean Monnet Module and in 2008 she was awarded the Jean Monnet Chair "Social Dimension and European Integration". In 2016 she received a grant “Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence” for the project “SharEU. Shared Values and Global Challenges”. She is currently Director of the "Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence" at the University of Florence (2017 to present).

Ayhan Kaya

Ayhan Kaya is the Director of the European Institute. He is a Professor of Politics and Jean Monnet Chair of European Politics of Interculturalism at the Department of International Relations, İstanbul Bilgi University; and a member of the Science Academy, Turkey. He received his PhD and MA degrees at the University of Warwick, England.

Claske Vos

Assistant Professor at the Department of European Studies at the Humanities Faculty. Investigator of the Research Project En/counter/points: (re )negotiating belonging through culture and contact in public space and place (HERA 2019-2022).

Jarosław Jańczak

Political scientist, Europeanist, researcher of borders, habilitated doctor of social sciences, working as an associate professor. In the ValEUs project he coordinates the AMU team’s works.
