The University of the Aegean in Greece aims to introduce new approaches in tertiary education and promote regional development through innovative educational programs and interdisciplinary fields of study and research. The decision to develop in more than one University Units (in 6 Islands of the Aegean) is based on firm strategic and geopolitical criteria. The twofold aim of the University of the Aegean has been accomplished through the effective organisation and interconnection of academic and administrative units and the standardization of required procedures via the use of ICTs and the connection and mutual support with the local communities and their agencies.

Christos Ziogas
Christos Ziogas is a PhD in International Relations, at Department of International, European and Area Studies at Panteion University. Since then he has been teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. For the last three years he has been teaching in the Mediterranean Studies Department of the University of the Aegean: Theory and Methodology of International Relations, Greek-Turkish Relations, International Security Issues and Special Issues in International Relations. In the past three year, he has also served as Adjunct Lecturer at Hellenic Army Academy, teaching International Relations.
