The Department of European Studies at UVA in the Netherlands has a strong focus on EU foreign policy and democracy in multiple settings. ValEUs will be embedded in the Amsterdam School for Transnational, European, and Regional Studies (ARTES) and the Amsterdam Center for European Studies (ACES) which specialises in the field of European governance. ValEUs will profit from a close vicinity to the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA), which promotes studies on culture and arts, civil society activists, and cultural diplomacy, a field of particular relevance of the UvA contribution.
